On Sunday, March 20th, five Macy’s stores across the country will launch “America the Beautiful,” the 2016 version of the Macy’s Flower Show, which borrows its title from a 1913 anthem that celebrates the physical beauty of the nation and its iconic destinations. Just as the song highlights the majestic hues of America’s grain fields and mountains, the Flower Show will showcase the unique floral character of the nation’s landscapes, and welcome spring with brilliant blasts of color.

“Our annual celebration of Spring this year will take us on a journey through our own backyards, one that is rich with magnificent landscapes that evolve from desert to tropics and everything in between,” said Mike Gansmoe, executive producer of Macy’s Flower Show.

As always, in each store, millions of live flowers, plants and trees will be carefully cultivated to bloom all at once and retain their lush appearance throughout the two-week show, closing on April 3rd.

Macy’s Stores Participating in the Flower Show

Though sharing a theme, each of the five stores staging the Flower Show—Macy’s Herald Square in New York, Macy’s Center City in Philadelphia, Macy’s State Street in Chicago, Macy’s in Downtown Minneapolis (produced in partnership with Bachman’s) and Macy’s Union Square in San Francisco—will construct it in a way that makes the most of the country’s indigenous flora and the store layout, by creatively utilizing countertops, crafted architecture and dedicated in-store spaces (including auditoriums).

In keeping with a focus on characteristic aspects of the American landscape, each store will feature the Statue of Liberty’s iconic torch as the exhibition centerpiece.

Additional Events Taking Place in Individual Macy’s Stores

Some of the nation’s top floral and event designers will participate in the Macy’s Flower Show, offering a personal interpretation of one of the show’s most beloved features—the stunning “Bouquet of the Day.” Their creations will give additional expression to the show’s theme and be on display for a limited period in the New York, Chicago and San Francisco stores.
