Macy’s Great Tree Lighting in Union Square Park in San Francisco

Join Macy’s for the iconic holiday tree lighting in Union Square Park in San Francisco on Friday, November 29, 2019, 6-9 pm.

The 30th Annual Great Tree Lighting will be celebrated with live performances by the San Francisco Opera; the Grammy award-winning San Francisco Boys Chorus; Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir; the cast of San Francisco Playhouse's 'Groundhog Day the Musical'; winner of season 16 of NBC's The Voice, Maelyn Jarmon; plus a visit from the one and only Santa!*

The spectacular, reusable tree will be decorated with more than 43,000 twinkling energy-efficient LED lights and 700 shimmering ornaments.

Tip: Consider dining at the Cheesecake Factory, located on the 8th floor of Macy’s Union Square—it overlooks Union Square Park.

Great Tree Lighting Location

The Great Tree Lighting will take place in front of Macy’s, between Sutter & Geary streets and Powell & Stockton Streets, right across from the front of Macy's.

Other Holiday Activities at Macy’s Union Square

Be sure to also visit the festive Holiday Lane on the store’s seventh floor to see the lavishly decorated Christmas trees, thousands of ornaments and other embellishments for the home.

And visit Santa—starting November 29, 2019 and continuing through December 24th, Santa will take up residence in Macy’s Union Square’s Santaland, where he’ll listen to holiday wishes and pose for photos with you.
