Kavita from She Wears Fashion takes on Black Friday and wins
Black Friday is a well known tradition in the USA! For a Brit like me, we only have Boxing Day sales which are our equivalent. But I know all too well what goes down on this day.. something I can only describe as 'sale shopper madness'
It was my first ever Black Friday experience in the US and I was more than excited to see first hand what exactly happens. I've seen news stories back home in England that sometimes cover the madness, so it makes sense that I was a little scared.
Funnily enough, Black Friday is now being hosted on a Thursday (a.k.a. Thanksgiving!) which is absolutely crazy to me! Gone are the days that people line up at 2am for the sales, it is now on the actual day of Thanksgiving! I thought maybe it wouldn't be as crazy due to it being on this day.. but boy, was I proved wrong!
I hopped over to the Herald Square store, which was buzzing with anticipation already. I was shown into a side door for press, and waited patiently for the madness to unfold.. which happened oh so suddenly! I rushed around to shop the sales as Macy's had kindly given me a $200 to showcase just how much you can get in the sales and.. well.. I would like to think I did a good job!
Makeup: Regarding make-up, Macy's is the best place in my opinion to shop during the sales. I made sure to pick up a few door busters, which are incredible one time only offers during the black Friday sales, and am so happy with the ones I chose. I grabbed an Urban Decay Arsenal set for only $10, which had an amazing RRP of $35!
Then I moved onto the Benefit door buster, an amazing tin full of Benefit goodies for only $45 (RRP $97!)
I also was lucky enough to visit YSL and get an amazing pamper session from them. The wonderful girls gave me so many awesome samples to try out and because they did such an AWESOME job I ended up buying myself a Touché Éclat because when she used it I felt a little like Kim Kardashian (that’s the dream, right?)
I also had to visit the Mac counter, for us Brits Mac is much cheaper in the USA than it is here, and the girls on Black Friday were so so amazing at making sure I was seen to even amongst the craziness! I chose a taupe lipstick in matte and strip down lip pencil to go together.. perfect nudes here I come!
Christmas Essentials: Christmas cookie is now my 100% favourite smell. Hands down, I wish that every day smelt of Christmas cookies! Now, I don't think it would be appropriate to make Christmas cookies just so I can smell them everyday (believe me, I've tried!) so grabbing a few amazingly scented bits from Macy's was my only option and boy, they did not disappoint!
This awesome Yankee candle smells unreal. I sometimes just open the lid and sniff it when I'm having a rough day and it instantly gives me festive cheer! This was amazingly only $20 for a full jar, down from the RRP of $30 and even more so, this is even cheaper than it would be in the UK!
I then headed to Philosophy which is an amazing brand that I've wanted to grab something from for a while. I of course, took a whiff of the Christmas cookie scent and again instantly fell in love! It was only a mere $10, down from $20, and again cheaper than the UK version, what a steal!
Whilst I got chatting to the girls at Macy's they told me how Grumpy Cat, one of my favourite online sensations, had been to visit the store. I'm actually a massive fan so thought it was only fitting for this.. A Grumpy Cat toy for only $32. And she's worth every penny! Thank you so much to Macy's for letting me into the crazy world of Black Friday!
