Every year, from late March to early April, Macy's stages the Flower Show—a magnificent themed floral extravaganza that takes root in flagship stores across the country. In 2018, Once Upon Springtime presented a twist on classic fairy tales.

For more than 70 years, Macy’s Flower Show has delighted generations of floral aficionados with spectacular gardens filled with millions of live flowers, plants and trees from around the world. The show offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to enjoy these magnificent blossoms in an unexpected setting. Native to many different landscapes, Macy’s Flower Show features floral materials blooming in unison despite their unique climatic DNA.

Displays in unexpected settings such as store countertops, windows and specially-designed architecture, including grand bridges, columns and topiaries, Macy’s Flower Show is staged in unique fashion at each of the three locations nationwide. Macy’s invites visitors to take part in flower demonstrations, marvel at breathtaking floral scenes and take advantage of free tours in select cities.

At the 2018 show, the floral spectacular bloomed at three locations—Herald Square in New York City, State Street in Chicago, and Union Square in San Francisco. Thousands of visitors entered a world of magic, imagination and wonder as the Macy’s Flower Show® opened the first chapter of Spring. From Sunday, March 25 through Sunday, April 8, 2018, Once Upon a Springtime transformed the iconic stores into enchanted gardens where the beauty and renewal of the spring season met the whimsy of a fairytale journey.

Once Upon a Springtime: A Wondrous Journey

The 2018 themed celebration brought to floral life a unique twist on classic fairy tales, creating a world of personified flora and fauna, princesses, evil queens, fairy godmothers and noble knights that led visitors on a wondrous journey.

As visitors entered each show, they had the ability to choose their own adventure, based on how they began their trip through the floral fantasy land.

From a towering castle where the Princess resided to a meadow of brightly colored flowers, an enchanted forest, and lush lagoon; spectators played a part in Spring’s triumph over eternal Winter.

In addition to the magnificent landscaped gardens, Flower Show spectators had the opportunity to enjoy a host of special in-store events including floral, food and fashion demonstrations, celebrity appearances, and more during the two weeks the show was in full bloom.
